• Conduct in-depth patent, scientific and business searches using online, intranet and internet resources.
• Utilize specialized information retrieval techniques (patent coding systems, chemical structures, etc.) to provide prior art, freedom to practice, and other IP searches
• Analyze and summarize search results using scientific subject knowledge and specialized tools.
Prepare value-added reports that synthesize and evaluate search results to influence R&D and Legal decision making
• Participate in client project teams and company initiatives as an information consultant
• Provide current awareness to focus areas
• Train end-users and colleagues in effective use of information resources and promote available services
• Participate in department activities designed to improve the quality and impact of information products and service
• Interacting with clients in the US and other overseas locations
Desired Candidate Profile
• MBA/BE/MSc in chemistry, molecular biology, medical sciences, pharmacy, materials science or a B.E. in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Masters or PhD in a technical field or information science is preferred
• A minimum of 3 - 7 years experience searching commercial patent and SciTech databases
• Ability to deliver meaningful analysis, summaries and reports of search results
• Knowledge of patents, intellectual property and patenting processes
• Familiarity with the consumer products business is desired
• Experience of serving offshore clients will be preferred
